Phil Lees, P.E.A.C.E.
Toronto District School Board trustees overwhelmingly voted against a motion asking the City of Toronto to enforce the public nudity laws at the Gay Pride Parade (16:6), in which the TDSB schools participate. That means they believe the public nudity and various public sexual expressions should be part of the curriculum experience!
There are many other cities with similar Gay Pride Parades, Festivals and Celebrations– (Windsor, Ottawa, Guelph, Halton, Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa, Peterborough, London, Niagara, Cambridge/Kitchener/Waterloo, Windsor-Essex). There will now be pressure from these communities to have schools engaging in their events.
PEACE believes that we need to respect all, but this is forcing a state set of values which are in conflict with many others, & this is in conflict with the constitution. This is as offensive to people of faith as ‘requiring all students to attend a religious service’ would be offensive to the more liberal minded.
We at P.E.A.C.E. encourage you to:
· begin to research those who are registered to run in the next city election on October 27th and know who you are voting for.
· Consider running for school board trustee – the election is this fall.
